In Sri Lanka, the method of using monsoon winds to power furnaces was used to produce highcarbon steel. Hundreds of archaeological sites on the slopes of the remote hills in Sri Lankan Central Highlands have been discovered. Evidence of this technique was first found in 1990. Information about the discovery, and experimental trials, was documented in Nature magazine .
